I don’t think I would recommend it for young middle grade readers, though, personally, because of some content, the suspenseful plot, as well as all the lies and deceptions from the kids and adults. I hope the third book finishes this series off well.
The first book I found to be confusing with the alternative universe plot being introduced, but I was able to perfectly follow along in this sequel because the world had already been set up for the reader. Which is more on the rare side of things than you would think. I actually preferred this sequel to the first book.
I didn’t feel this way at all with “The Deceivers”. You know how most sequels never are as good as the first book? How the second book in a trilogy is typically the “meh” book?
